Then I might be able to upload some of "Mr Benn" (no, not "Mr Bean", but a low budget childrens show about a man who, when visiting a clothes shop, always ends up in some strange time or place). There is one episode though which was made recently and probably never become PD knowing the governments of the world fondness for extending copyright terms. But anyway, isn't there now more of "Hancock's Half Hour" that can be uploaded?

Mr Benn is an absolute favourite of mine. (the astronaut and the knight were my top episodes) I have them all! I wonder what's going to happen in 2014 when the first Doctor Who stories go out of copyright. The BBC are very possessive!

I can only hope that this will start a strange, bizarre, inexplicable series of events that, through a series of seemingly (but not really) unrelated events, will lead to the BBC's demise.

Stranger things have happened....

Your talk of "Mr Benn" intrigued me. However, I lack the patience to wait until 2021. So, I downloaded the whole series with BufNet[3] just now. It's quite nice!

They may renew the copyrights just to upset your plans. Wait... can copyrights be renewed in UK and Austrailia?

I think, technically it's a broadcast law. The law being that it is only protected for 50 years, and after that can't be protected. However, stranger things have happened.

I see there being "Official Releases" and then the "PD releases"

Sounds about right. Here in the U.S., a work can be protected indefinitely as long as the copyright holders renew in a timely manner, from what I've come to understand.
